We heard the rumors, we read the reports, but it didn't hit home until this morning when we heard it straight from you.

Oh dear Katie, how will we ever wake up without you? You've been our morning sunshine since middle school (when we first started to be responsible for getting ourselves out of bed.) Without you, we're not sure we would have woken up day after day. Mornings will never be the same.

Our Today Show Family will never be the same. It feels like my morning parents are getting a divorce. Mom has met someone better. Dad is going to start dating someone new and younger. Court ordered visits will require me to switch to CBS in the evenings -- but I've never been to that side of town! There will be much adjustment, but Katie, you will always be a part of our family.

We've been gone for a while but we couldn't let this monumental occasion pass without comment. And now the race to replace the Matriarch of the Morning begins... you can see Ann seething for attention (she is already talking over Katie -- immediately following Katie's announcement during their couch chit chat), and of course the lobbying effort for our namesakes, Campbell Brown and Natalie Morales is in full force.

Who do you want to see Matt bring home next?

Thank GOD you guys are back! And just in time to chronicle the Today Show orgy that I'll be salivating over for the next two months. They should do one full show with her original cast: Gumble, Willard Scott, that weird-o movie freak Gene Shallot.

Did she write her own goodbye. When Matt flipped through it after joking "Also coming up in this half hour..." it definitely looked like some pages ripped out of a notebook. And how about the Wizard of Oz reference. Classic that Katie would cast herself as Dorothy. Very fitting.

Dear god, please don't let it be Curry or Brown. The reasons for hating Curry are well-documented here. Brown, however, is just about as bad, only with a lisp that she clearly struggles to conceal. It's awful. And then there is her bubble-headed giggling and sing-songy delivery.

If the suits at NBC have any mercy on viewers, or regard for talent (umm, okay, let's not get crazy here), it'll be Morales.

Welcome back!

While it seems that Meredith Viera will be replacing Katie, at least for the time being, I feel that NBC is making a big mistake in not giving the job to Ann Curry. Ann deserves it; she gets along well with Matt Lauer; and she has been doing some great journalistic work lately (the trip to Chad in particular). Ann has her faults, and she is not Katie Couric, but she would be a popular Today show host. She's got my vote!

It should have been Ann Curry. She has been there through thick and thin. If Matt could move over from the news desk (with Bryant Gumbel's help), Ann should have had the support from Matt to join him and Al. She has earned that position and that is what should have happened. Seems all Matt cares about is him and how much more money he can get out of this!

It is so good to see Katie finally gone from Today. Now I can watch the show in peace; however, I have to now give up watching decent evening news now. She is like a NY cockroach, you just cannot get rid of her!! Katie can do an interview, acts like a ditzy co-ed, and has no personality. She failed on Today. I wonder how long it will take her to fail on evening news. Based on what I have seen so far, mercifully it won't be long.

Please NBC do a big re-hash of the tired worn out Today Show format. All of us are tired of Matt, Ann and Al. Let's have some real news without the simpering, mooing, Ann Curry.
